Martha Martin

As a young child I loved listening to the poetry my mother wrote.  Her inspirations were from deep in her heart.  Although she would argue that they were gifts from God.

I often told her as I grew older that she should sell her poems.  Her response remained the same, “Oh no I could never ask money for what God has so freely given.”  It never occured to her that perhaps this was exactly what God had intended.  She loved sharing her poems with the world and is certain that this is God’s plan.

Throughout this site I will be sharing stories and poems that were written by Martha Martin the woman who was my inspiration.  She trusted me with her collection and I lovingly put them in a form to be published.  At one point I appologized for keeping them so long and she responded with, “That’s okay, you never know.  Someone might just make a book of them one day.”

And so that has become my goal and my purpose.  My mother raised seven children.  Each of the first four are four years apart.  Then the last three are two years apart.  Since I was the oldest of the bunch you can imagine when we all get together to relate stories of our childhood it is as if we came from totally different parents.

That is a story all by itself that I may cover on this site some day.
