A Life Worth Living

August 21st, 2009

The stories and poems you will read here are often timeless in nature.  Some would say we are living in the worst of times. Others may counter it is the best of times.  But as you read these stories from a lifetime of loving and sharing you will see that in many ways we are simply in the growing pains of a lifetime of change that remains in many ways the same.  The greatest consistency of all is the Love that shines from inside our hearts.

This site is a collection of stories and poems written and published by Martha Martin.  Let’s begin this journey with one of my favorites.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Life is for Living

When I was young and my mind was small
My problem’s got quite out of hand
But then as I grew and my mind grew too
I learned to accept each command.
As problems arise, and problems do
I divide them in equal lot
And do what I can to understand
And don’t try to be what I’m not.
If problems get huge as is often the case
I imagine myself as a friend
I trim off the edges and tackle the heart
And it usually works out in the end.
I do what I think is best for the most
For the longest possible time
I’m rewarded for doing the best I know how
With a peace that is most sublime.
When folks look at me like I’m kind of nut
I just toss it aside with a grin
For I know I can’t tackle the problems with out
If I’m lacking peace within.
